We already know that the HORECA industry was among the most affected by the pandemic. And more than a victim of the situation, we remember how the Sars Cov 1 virus started as an outbreak in 2003 from a hotel in Hong Kong. So, hotels are since then even more in continuous struggle with these situations, which we treat as critical for 3 reasons:
- for the health of the guests,
- out of responsibility for society,
- from the desire to continue to operate in this field of hospitality with only positive reviews.
History that industry learns from
The sick tourist in Hong Kong in 2003 infected in a single night, through hotel air systems and contact, other people who in turn traveled worldwide. And the total number of Sars Cov-1 cases worldwide that originated that night is 4000!
This time, hotels were more prepared once the situation allowed for reopening. We have passed a summer and vacation season that did not result in any outbreaks in accommodation units in Romania. We do our homework every day and follow the normal and special rules with dedication to provide the best conditions for our guests.
Let’s talk about how you can be sure that you are safe at the hotel, in a pandemic or year after year when traveling or on vacation
In Romania, over 54% of those who travel choose the country as their destination. And in the short moments when they enjoy the holiday, you don’t want to fear what might happen to you, but to enjoy what you live.
Therefore, hotels and guesthouses in Romania have adapted to the situation of the pandemic in 2020, when Government Decision no. 394/2020 regarding the declaration of the state of alert also established the first measures regarding the operation of the hotel industry.
Among these sanitation and safety rules, you already know:
- The rule of social distancing – and if you’re going on vacation, then surely you already want to distance yourself from the world and enjoy the tranquility of the vacation.
- Wearing a mask – is still normal in closed spaces.
- Hand hygiene and repeating this ritual at short intervals and in all locations.
- During the pandemic it is forbidden to transfer menus, plates, olive trees and other objects from one table to another – so make sure that what you have on the table is only your food. Keep your phone away, as it is one of the most used objects.
Cleanliness has always been a central benchmark in the hospitality industry. Most complaints on testimonial and review sites are related to cleanliness. It’s noticeable, it’s annoying and especially in these times, not having a spotless room doesn’t let you feel safe.
That is precisely why, with the lessons of the pandemic, we opened Hotel Orient in Galati in 2021, with three stars and 3 rules of thumb: cleanliness, comfort, quiet.
But there are also hotels that have gone beyond the classic rules.
Among the strangest Sanitation measures and safety measures adopted by hotels in the world
- In Las Vegas, some properties have thermal cameras at the entrances and monitor anyone entering the building, including employees, and anyone with a temperature over 37.3 degrees is not allowed in!
- A resort in Bali is asking customers to disinfect themselves on ….elbows. The measure, due to the fact that, they say, people can touch tables with their elbows and then carry germs further into the interactions.
- According to a report in The New Indian Express, a rule for vacating rooms at resorts or hotels in the Maldives says they can only leave once all occupants on the property have tested negative for the virus – and regardless of whether the person wants to be tested for Covid -positive or not.
Our staff is trained and up-to-date on the latest cleaning and disinfection rules and methods, and the way we welcome our guests is designed to make their stay safe and stress-free. We don’t compromise or choose to take shortcuts when it comes to your safety and comfort.
What else you need to know and watch in the hotels where you rest:
5. The staff will wear a mask and gloves, and after each meal they will disinfect the surfaces, with biocidal products that require a minimum contact time.
6. The government’s plan also requires the washing and disinfection of surfaces in rooms and common spaces with increased frequency than usual, with disinfectant solutions based on alcohol or chlorine, approved according to the law. We ensure their authenticity.
7. In some hotels, luggage is held for 20 minutes before entering the room, for disinfection by exposure to ultraviolet rays. And the decayed rooms will first be disinfected by ultraviolet technology.
New rules: The Airbnb platform has a 5-step advanced room cleaning standard that all property listings must follow. It’s more about how the pandemic has changed the order in which things are done, from constant ventilation to sanitizing staff’s hands before, during and after handling cleaning substances and necessary utensils.
Day by day, we adapt to the rules and standards, for our guests who feel safe when they see that someone is taking care to monitor the temperature, the disinfection containers are full, the rooms are spotless, the table is served with gloves, everyone wears a mask. These are visible things.
But customers are also safe because, along with cleaning, disinfection and attention, we also take care of:
- Employees are constantly informed about the latest changes and additions to the Safety Rules and procedures based on the anti-epidemic measures taken in the country and in the other EU member states. We are tested, prepared and cautious.
- We are ready to offer meals also in the room on request or under maximum safety conditions in the dedicated spaces, in 3 restaurants with 30 seats each, for distancing.
- Satisfaction surveys are introduced right from the stay, so that customers’ opinions change something immediately. Thus, any insecurity or desire is prevented and resolved before it becomes a regret after the stay.
At Orient Hotel, we have trained the staff and adopt daily PROTOCOLS AND RULES OF CONDUCT adapted to the daily situation. We are dedicated to hospitality and aware of the responsibility we assume when we say Come to Galați! You are safe with us.
